K, guys we’re one week away from the grand opening party for The Audio Department recording studio. I’m so excited about the party and how the space is coming together. We’re spending the rest of the week tidying up renovations and making the place complete. I feel honored to be part of the space when it was previously Damon Soundtrek Studios and proud to be part of carrying on the tradition of such a great recording room that has been around for over 40 years. This is a pretty big deal so I hope you can all join us in this celebration. Hope to see you there!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 1, 2011

THE AUDIO DEPARTMENT – GRAND OPENING

Edmonton – The Audio Department, the newest recording studio in Edmonton, invites you to
its Grand Opening on Thursday, September 15, 2011, 7:00-11:00pm, at 6916 – 82 Avenue.

Not just any studio, The Audio Department is the current and newly renovated manifestation of the former Damon Studios; renowned as one of the best and most acoustically-sound tracking rooms in all of Alberta.

The Audio Department was formed in 2004 as a Pro Audio Rental Company specializing in boutique and vintage recording equipment. The original goal of owner Kerry McGowan was to eventually solidify the relationships garnered with the recording community, and incorporate the gear into a quality recording space. That opportunity arose as Terry Tran, Managing Partner of The Audio Department, was working at Damon Studios before it closed, and in November 2010 The Audio Department took over the lease equipping the space with their arsenal of gear, capped off with a Solid State Logic AWS900 console.

The space has been renovated and modernized in an intensive effort to bring the lounge and amenities available to the recording community, up to the amazing acoustic reputation the space has gained during its time in operation as Damon Studios.

Artists such as Kaley Bird, Wool on Wolves, Shout Out Out Out Out and Mass Choir have already recorded projects in the studio and are thrilled with the results, along with The Audio Department Engineers including: Terry Tran, Nik Kozub and Mark Stephens.

Please join us on September 15 and check it out yourself, as The Audio Department officially opens its doors for business. Cake and refreshments will be served. We are excited and look forward to seeing you there!

Hey peeps, Sorry for the lack of updates. I got back from New Orleans and got really ill. My ears were messed being sick and all, so I couldn’t do any work. I’m playing the catch up game right now with a bunch of projects. Not to mention there’s been a ton of movement at The Audio Department recording studio. We’re in total renovation mode at the moment. Last week we tore down a wall and gutted the floors. This week we got to get some plumbing going and throw some paint on the walls too. Oh and don’t let me forget to tell you about our latest gear acquisition. We are proud owners of a Solid State Logic AWS900+ SE console. The thing is a beast and we love it! I’m in the midst of finishing mixes for Kaley Bird and starting the mix for the new Mass Choir album. It’s all very exciting stuff. I’m hoping to get back to more blogging soon in a re-mixed/re-synthesized style. Talk soon.
